The OASE Insurance Administration Program

The OASE Insurance Administration Program, which is also referred to as Stichting OASE or simply OASE, was developed in 1991 with the goal of providing technical support specific to controlling insurance-applications for members/participants.  The OASE is a module-based program.  As such, it is suitable for all insurance companies, regardless of size.

The OASE is a DOS-based program which enables the user to manage the complete administration of a small, medium or large insurance company.  It runs on an Oracle database and can operate in a stand-alone or (Novell) network environment with several clients.  The power of OASE is that it is simple, easy to learn and remote support can be provided by its developers.

The OASE modules are as follows:

  1. Commercial Administration - Create, amend and print customer details such as name and address data.
  2. Policy Administration - Create and amend policies, create and print invoices and administer expulsions.
  3. Debtor Administration - Administer debtor account bookings and print monthly reports and summaries.
  4. Member Administration - Calculate and disburse customer interest and bonus payments by member accounts.
  5. Claims Administration - Administer claims and print reports.
  6. Reinsurance Administration - Print monthly reports and analysis for reinsurance companies.
  7. Financial Administration - Administer general ledgers, balance sheets and other financial data.
  8. System Management - System options such as create/amend users, printers, default codes for agents, companies etc.

Through the internet, remote support can be provided in two ways:

  1. The developers can dial into the computer where OASE is installed, thereby enabling them to make modifications, if necessary.
  2. The user can email backup copies of the data stored in the OASE, which are then imported into the developers own computer.  The data is then analyzed, modifications on the data or a new database with the modifications may be emailed back, which the user can then import.

The minimum system requirements for OASE to run in a stand-alone environment are:

  • Processor: Pentium III 500 Mhz
  • Operating system: Only DOS, Windows 95 or Windows 98 (The OASE runs only in DOS-mode, not in a windows DOS-box)
  • Memory: 32Mb
  • Harddisk: 200Mb
  • Printer : Preferably HP Laserjet 21xx/4xxx
  • Backup: Tape streamer or suitable alternative
  • Others: UPS to prevent damages on the computer or the system brought about by power-failures

The server requirements for OASE to run in a multi-user environment are:

  • Server: Pentium III 500 Mhz
  • Operating system: Novell Netware 3.2 or 4.2
  • Protocol: IPX/SPX Ethernet 802.3
  • Backup: DAT Tapestreamer with Arcserve backup software
  • Others: UPS to prevent damages on the computer or the system brought about by power-failures
