The Sandigan ng Magsasaka (SANDIGAN) is a federation of 1,500 farmers from 48 barangays in 6 municipalities of Sorsogon: Bulan, Bulusan, Irosin, Juban, Matnog, and Sta. Magdalena. One of PAKISAMA's founders, its office is located in Brgy. San Juan, Irosin, Sorsogon.
Established in September 1987, SANDIGAN was registered with the Department of Labor and Employment-Bureau of Rural Workers (DOLE-BRW) on September 21, 1988. SANDIGAN envisions an authentic humanist, God-loving, nationalist, and developed society with peace based on justice, with freedom, and with equal access to opportunities. It has committed itself to: develop gender-sensitive persons, responsible; to her/himself, fellows, and the environment, towards a more progressive political, economic, cultural, and healthy condition of the farmers, through continuous education, capability building, and mobilization.
The federation seeks to: establish a strong and independent organization of farmers that will ensure a strong force in the implementation and monitoring of genuine agrarian reform, rural development and other programs for the peasantry; implement a practical, timely, and appropriate education and skills training program on technology upliftment and awareness raising consonant with its vision; promote and uphold farmers rights and interests; ensure farmers effective participation in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of government policies, programs, and activities; develop members capabilities through the sharing of experiences, knowledge, and resources; build alliances and partnerships with other groups of similar principles; address members needs in terms of fund accessing, maintenance, and strengthening of health and economic projects, increasing productivity, and ensuring equitable marketing; and promote and advocate farmers issues and other concerns affecting the nation in general.
